I was shocked to learn that Wayman Tisdale died this morning after fighting cancer for two years. I didn't even know he had cancer. For those who don't know, Wayman Tisdale was a former basketball player and jazz bassist. I only know him as a good bassist as I am not really a sports fan. He will be greatly missed both in the jazz and sports communities. My prayers go out to his family and friends.

The most amazing thing happened last Friday. One of our weather stations in Plains, Georgia actually got brushed by a tornado and survived. The maximum winds topped out at about 110 mph. You don't usually have weather stations survive that kind of beating. I hope we got some good data out of it. Take care all.

Sorry to those I was chatting with yesterday for leaving so abruptly. My mom and bro brought back a tall, top-heavy, and powerful air compressor for my dad. I was fun trying to get it off the back of the truck and into the garage, but it was worth it.

I know I haven't been on hear a while so I thought i'd get everybody caught up on what has been going on with me. First I went to Jekyll Island on labor day with my family. I saw an old friend while I was there who is now married and has a lovely baby boy. It seems like only yesterday when we used to hang out so often. Boy how time flies these days. We also lost another one of our many cats. He was getting well on in years so it was expected. I have been given a lot more responsibilities at work. I have been trusted with more of the data for our weather network. I also with the help of my brother purchased a gutter protection system for and parents. The one thing about this new house is that it is a pain and frankly dangerous to clean out the gutters every fall. That pretty much sums up my past few months. I will try to stay in touch more often. I hope everyone has a merry Christmas and a happy and prosperous 2008.

I am going through a rough spot at the moment. Over the weekend I came off of a medication I was taking for Anxiety. My doctor wanted me to come off of it because of elevated Liver enzymes that showed up on my last blood test. Coming off that stuff is not easy. I have problems with dizziness and nausea. I don't want to have to go on something else. I ask for your prayers and support while I go through this transition period.

I don't usually get involved in political issues, but I feel very strongly about this one. We need to end Daylight Savings Time. All it does is put our children in danger in the mornings and screws up us Atmospheric Scientists when it comes to converting to GMT Time for weather maps and charts. The claim that we can save energy by screwing with standard time is completely false. The only way we can truly save energy is by cutting back on our own energy consumption. Using Daylight Savings time as a form of energy savings is a lie probably thought up by big oil. Help me in ending Daylight Savings time both in our country and around the world.
